Kids & the Arts -  arts enrichment school year program for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Education & skill building through the arts, for children. This program includes art, music, theater, dance, yoga, Karate, story telling, cultural arts, language arts, performing arts, social graces, science experiments, creative explorations & more. This program takes a holistic approach, our main focus being to add to the creative, educational & social enrichment of each child. Children will get the chance to explore the arts and express themselves creatively in a supportive & nurturing environment. It is a place where children can learn & grow while letting their imagination and creativity guide them to new experiences.  New skills and talents will be honored. We strive to inspire each child and allow them the opportunity to learn in their own style.
 
All of the teachers at Kids & the Arts are committed to giving each child the best chance to discover and develop their own creative potential.

Visiting Artists-Various talented artists will come to present mini-workshops throughout the year. Including the following artistic presentations & workshops: Tap & Jazz, music, visual art, theatrical make-up & wigs, belly dancing, Kenpo Karate, tumbling, Matt the Magician and more!

Performances- The students will have the opportunity to perform on the big stage in costume in March 2012.
 
Art Exhibits- We will have several art exhibits throughout the year in our studio where the students can showcase & celebrate some of their favorite art pieces.
 
Program Information- Kids & the Arts provides a rich learning environment for each child. Every week the children will engage in open ended creative art explorations. Children will explore and create with varied media in an environment that encourages self expression and artistic development. Children will get to experience working with various art forms such as clay, paint, pastels, stamping, collage, crafts, color, drawing, cutting, handmade books, and much more. Music, singing and a variety of rhythm instruments will spark their imagination. They will learn various dance styles & movements including jazz, tap, ballet and creative movement. We will explore movement & tumbling, stretching, coordination & balance. Theater arts including improvisation, story telling, performance styles, voice work, costumes, props & stage make-up will inspire their creativity. Yoga poses to promote concentration, flexibility, strength, self-confidence and relaxation. These creative art explorations will give each child the opportunity to develop their awareness, appreciation, and sensitivity for the world around them and all of its possibilities. 
 
 
Application & Interview Process-Please fill out the online application. We will contact you to set up an interview. Space is limited, we can accept only 12 children into the program.

May 24th 11:30am- Last day celebration, art exhibit and acheivement ceremony
 
Program Tuition & Fees 2011/2012 School Year- 
Program fee due upon enrollment  $225.00 (supplies & fees for the year-this fee will be pro-rated for students who begin after Sept 6th and students who attend once per week)
Monthly tuition $250.00
Monthly tuition for one day per week $125.00
Costume/Performance fee $40.00 due December 1, 2011.
 
We accept 12 children per day into the school year program, with a staff of 3 teachers
 
 
 
 
 
 
Policies
 
All students must be potty trained.
 
If your child has had a fever within 24 hours of class please notify Kids & the Arts and do not bring your child to class.
 
Please dress your children in clothing that you don't mind getting messy as we will be experimenting with various art modalities and supplies. Smocks will be provided.
 
Child drop off 9am. Child pick up is 12noon.
 
Snack- Parents will rotate bringing a healthy snack for the class on a planned schedule.
 
Please notify Kids & the Arts if you intend to have another adult pick up your child at the end of class.
 
Snow days: We will be closed if the Durango 9R Schools are closed. If we close due to inclement weather and the Durango 9R Schools are not closed, we will send out a group email to all parents and have a recorded closure message on our voice mail at (970) 769-2938.
 
Monthly tuition payment is due on the 1st of each month.
 
We do require written notice 30 days prior to dis-enrolling your child in Kids & the Arts so that we may fill your child's spot in the program, thank you for your understanding.
